As The New Delta Jukes, guitarist Andrew “Shine” Turner and harmonicist/percussionist Adam Gussow play down home blues from the Muddy/Wolf/Hooker songbook with an all-night-long groove. Turner, whose father was Ike’s first cousing, gigged and recorded with drummer Sam Carr and his Delta Jukes before putting the blues down for a while in favor of gospel. Gussow is well known in blues circles for his two-decade partnership with Sterling “Mr. Satan” Magee in the Harlem-based duo, Satan and Adam. More recently, Gussow has achieved notoriety on YouTube for his series of more than 200 instructional videos covering every element of blues harmonica technique, as well as his transformation into the harp-powered one man band featured on his solo albums, Kick and Stomp (2010) and Southbound (2011).
Now Turner and Gussow have joined forces into a juke joint duo with gritty guitar, squalling harp, and a big bad beat.
